As part of K-State's Shelter Medicine Program, veterinary students gain hands-on experience by traveling to regional shelters to offer spay and neuter services to shelter pets at no cost to the shelter.
This program combines academic learning with community service, helping students develop skills for spaying and neutering animals, while also fostering a sense of civic responsibility. Our Mobile Surgery Unit is responsible for preparing 5,000 pets for adoption each year, while veterinary students gain unparalleled experience.
