The K-State College of Agriculture’s Global Collaboration on Sorghum and Millet's mission is to support sorghum's overall growth and advance sorghum as an essential crop to the overall changing dynamics of crop production. K-State is a global leader in sorghum breeding, production and value addition. GCSM helps extend this focus by engaging our global network of sorghum specialists across the value chain.
GCSM’s work in Madagascar provides new choices for farmers to combat years of drought. The in-country team consists of a network of farmer associations, private companies and national researchers. Madagascar’s USDA-equivalent research and extension lead, FOFIFA, has a team of field researchers and 16 additional graduate students supporting improved sorghum production techniques and the introduction of improved seed in 12 locations across Madagascar.
Your support will provide the GCSM team with the capacity to advance work in Madagascar, with industry partners to build public-private partnerships and to expand into other countries that will benefit from this model.
